CROSSFIT BACKGROUND: In 2007, as an Infantryman in the Jungles of south east Asia, during one of my 3 deployments over seas, I started my CrossFit journey. Through the years I have worked my way up from Member, to Coach, to Head Coach, to General Manager, and now Owner.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN: Work on the business or in the business day in day out! When I can get there, the Ocean and/or Jujitsu training is my escape from all the Hustle and Bustle.

COACH - Julie Watarai Lovett

CROSSFIT BACKGROUND: I started CrossFit in 2011 and instantly loved the competitive aspect and challenges in learning all the new skills. My favorite thing is Olympic Lifting, I find it so empowering. I love my CrossFit East O’ahu community and Coaching them is my passion.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN: CrossFit, Soccer Mom, The Beach is my church.

COACH - Jurrien “Joe” Kelling

CROSSFIT BACKGROUND: My wife brought me in against my will, but I enjoyed it. Was working out by myself overseas but when I came home I got my level 1 certification and started Coaching at CrossFit East O’ahu around 2012.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN: Surfing, Shaping Surfboards, Wood Working, Beer Brewing.

COACH - Katie Graf

CROSSFIT BACKGROUND: I have been doing CrossFit since 2012 - Thanks to Matt Beals! I love that every workout is different and challenging. My faves are Overhead Squats and Snatches. “Give me a heavy barbell, turn on some Gangsta Rap and I am a happy girl”

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN: Outside of CrossFit I surf and play in the ocean as much as I can.

COACH - Matt Beals

CROSSFIT BACKGROUND: Matt Beals is a superstar, his journey into CrossFit began in 20011, known in the CrossFit Community as ”Captain America” and a premier Coach at CrossFit Oahu. Excelling in life academics and sports started early for him. At the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, Matt was a Division 1 Collegiate athlete earning honors as a Consensus All-American rugby player, playing for three National Championships.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN: For a decade Matt paddled for Hui Nalu O Hawaii Canoe Club completing a dozen Molokai to O’ahu crossings in 6-man, 2-man, and 1-man canoes. dditionally, for many years Matt was a competitive triathlete and Category 2 competitive cyclist.

CERTIFICATIONS: Matt is deeply connected to the CrossFit community at large, holds a Cf Level 1 Certification, attended Invictus Athlete Camps and is celebrated and loved in his Island home!


COACH - Myles Kelly

CROSSFIT BACKGROUND: In 2013 after recovering from a twist fracture and surgery, running wasn’t an option to get cardio. I was introduced to high intensity interval training and loved it. Seeing CrossFit similarity and join my first class. originally started in a CrossFit/power-lifting gym and noticed improvement in not only weightlifting but day to day activities.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN: (High School) Football, Weightlifting, Power lifting, Olympic Lifting, Kinesiology and rehabilitation major.

CERTIFICATIONS: Countless hours Coaching at CrossFit East Oahu, Cupids Revenge and The Hawaii VA Games.


COACH - Jarret Ogata
