What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a fitness regimen developed by Greg Glassman over several decades. He was the first person in history to define fitness in a meaningful, measurable way, as “increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains.” The CrossFit methodology is meant to optimize fitness through constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity in communal setting, which is a key component and contributor to its effectiveness.
A regimen of constantly varied (CV), functional movements (FM) performed at high intensity (@HI) in a communal environment leads to health and fitness.

The aim of CrossFit is to forge a broad, general and inclusive fitness. It is a type of fitness philosophy that intends to best prepare trainees for any physical contingency — both unknown and unknowable. A survey of all sport and physical tasks led to the question, What physical skills and adaptations would most universally lend themselves to performance advantage? The answer: content derived from the intersection of all sports would quite logically lend itself well to all sport. That realization led to the creation of the Sport of Fitness, known as the CrossFit Games, where the Fittest Man and Woman on Earth is crowned. -Courtesy of CrossFit Inc.
